Click image for the latest news from the Department of MedicineThe Department of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center was founded in 1955 and has a rich history of dedication to clinical care, education and research. UMMC is the state’s only academic health science center and includes six health science schools.
As the largest department on campus, the DOM includes 13 divisions: allergy and immunology, cardiology, digestive diseases, endocrinology, general internal medicine, geriatrics, hematology and oncology, hospital medicine, infectious diseases, nephrology, rheumatology and molecular immunology, palliative and supportive care, and pulmonary critical care and sleep medicine.
The department includes over 300 staff and treats adult patients in various locations across the city, including UMMC main campus, the Jackson Medical Mall, Belhaven University Physicians, UMMC Specialty Select and UMMC Grant’s Ferry.
